Girls' Weekend

04/12/2003

Mom invited Tishie and me along for a fundraiser in Elizabeth City, Virginia this weekend, so we turned it into a mini-vacation, starting with a lovely drive through...

da da DAAAAA....

The Dismal Swamp!

Doesn't look so dismal, does it?

Here's a pleasure craft floating down the swamp canal.

Another view of the canal.

And another...

I guess it looks more dismal at night...

Started making me think of the Elvis song, "I washed my hands... in the muddy water..."

Mom fluffing her hair in front of the historical marker, which of course you can't read. :P

Here we have arrived in Elizabeth City.  Here's Tishie looking out over the waterfront.

And Tishie looking IN from the waterfront...

Another view of the waterfront.

Mom and Tishie at the waterfront.

I WANT A BOAT!!!

More Elizabeth City waterfront.  Can you tell I liked it here?

I think I should like to have a boat.  Did I mention this?

Our shadows on the water.

Here we are at the Elvis Tribute benefit, held at the Pasquotank Ruritan Club.  Mom and Tishie prepare to present Buddy with a gift for all his hard for on behalf of the March of Dimes.

Another shot.

The gift unveiled... a photograph of Elvis receiving his polio vaccination from the March of Dimes.

I think he likes it.

Buddy changes his mind about the 4 minute speech and asks mom to talk some more.

Buddy and Susan.

And now for some Elvis pictures...

First, Elvis crooning to an overwhelmed Tishie.

Mom, Buddy, and "Elvis"

Elvis singing Happy Birthday to Alice and others.

Here's the monument to Wilbur and Orville Wright at Kitty Hawk, atop Kill Devil Hill, which we climbed *pant pant*

A view of the ocean from atop Kill Devil Hill.

Looking back towards the museum, which was sadly under construction, so we didn't get to see much this trip.

Near Kitty Hawk.
