Sunny's Sunday Supper

Nowadays, our weekends are too busy for Sunday supper, what with us all working; we tend to have our 'big suppers' on Tuesday or Wednesday nights.  But still, the fun and the fare and the family are the important things!  So pull up a chair, set a spell, and enjoy supper with us!

Appetizers
On 'supper days,' I start cooking early, generally while the kids are getting ready for school.  I'll make the first batch of cornbread, and then get as many of these little goodies started, or finished, if possible, so I have something to pull out of the fridge as soon as the serious cooking begins, the aroma of which will drive my family to the brink of madness, if they don't have something to nibble on!  Of course, the fried stuff has to be done later, but I find plenty to do to keep me busy from 5:00 or 6:00am on!

Deviled Eggs
Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes
Pimiento Cheese Rollups
Fried Chicken Livers
Fried Okra
Fried Dill Pickles
Fried Green Tomatoes

Meats
While I am primarily vegetarian, my family would mutiny if I forced my eating habits on them all the time.  And from time to time, the need to feed on some of these homey favorites just becomes too much for me, and I have to indulge myself, too.  Of course, I really pay for it later, but hey...  Here are a few of my family's all-time favorite, not-very-healthy, but really-really yummy main dishes.

Fried Chicken
Pot Roast
Country Fried Steak
Pork Chops
Fried Catfish
Sunny's Chicken and Dumplings

Side Dishes
It would be silly to call these 'veggies,' since some of them aren't, really.  I mean, I guess technically cole slaw is, but it's more of a salad, isn't it? And what about cornbread dressing, or dirty rice?   I dunno.  We always just called them sides.  A typical Sunday supper calls for at least four, sometimes five of these.
