The Tale of Catbeard, Part 2

The tale was unspake but for whispers and lies,

But its truth was still awfully known

That the Cap?n had ne?er met his match but the once

And the seeds of this tale were then sown.

By the only one feared

By the dreaded Catbeard

Yes, the Piratess Amarisse Sun.

When they met it was Yuletide and grounded by snow

On the Island of Clutch at the Inn

Catbeard merry and making the best of the blow

Chasing wenches and rev?ling in sin.

Then enter the feared,

Dreaded Cap?n Catbeard?s

One weakness, fair Amarisse Sun.

Dressed in leggings and leather, a short sword at her hip

She entered the Inn with a stride

Quite un-wenchlike and gave not a cursory glance

At the Cap?n, who said, ?There?s my bride.?

Which words triggered fear

In the men of Catbeard

As he gazed upon Amarisse Sun.

Full swaggering stood he and pushed towards the bar

Where Amarisse stood drinking ale

He greeted her with his own signature smile

And a sharp friendly pat on her tail.

Did the poor, sorry, feared

Dreaded Cap?n Catbeard

To the Piratess Amarisse Sun.

Now the Cap?n and crew were to Clutch fairly new

And of Amarisse had heard no word.

But the crowd in the Inn fell full silent just then

As the Piratess turned slowly toward

The clueless and feared,

Dreaded Cap?n Catbeard

And his pirates, mean to the one.

?You err, sir,? said Amarisse, deadpan and cold,

?For in these parts when one wants to die,

It?s more common to throw oneself off of one?s ship,

For ?twould be less embarrassing, that it would, aye.

Said the Piratess feared

To the Cap?n Catbeard

And his pirates, mean to the one.

Catbeard, taken aback, raised his eyebrows and grinned

And said, ?Lassie, you speak without thought.?

She just snorted and tossed back her ale with a smile

And said, ?Laddie, you speak as you ought?nt.?

Oh the room was afeared

As the Cap?n Catbeard

And wild Amarisse sparred, one on one.

Now in one shady corner another gruff gent

Whose eyes sparkled with mirth at the joust

Watched the discourse with eyes

Laced with plotting, and wisely

Not displaying such feelings full out,

And he grinned at as the feared

Dreaded Cap?n Catbeard

Was near matched by this Amarisse Sun
