Born in Alabama in 1964, Sunny was raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived in Nashville and Florida before settling in Richmond, Virginia in 2000. She is married to Pagan author and activist (and computer geek extraordinaire) Cather "Catalyst" Steincamp, and together they are raising five free spirits, aged 12 to 18. A survivor of private all-girl schools until her senior year, she graduated from Memphis Catholic High school and attended Memphis State University, where she studied English and Commercial Music, working for a time in the recording industry before returning to school to become a paramedic.

For the past ten years, Sunny has been concentrating on her children and her writing, working on various manuscripts and researching curriculum papers for Brigham Young University's then-nascent Distance Learning curriculum, as well as spending several years nurturing her musical muse through songwriting. Finding it easier to do all this while working part-time, she went back to the old standby, bartending, which provides the flexibility and cash flow necessary to juggle the many interests and responsibilities in her life.

Currently Sunny is busy writing and advising on Paganhood and its associated Cauldron of Answers, as well as being a contributing author for The Seeker Journal. Also in the works is a project very near and dear to the heart of Sunny and her husband: Paganspace, what will hopefully be a resource and encouragement for the development and support of Pagan community centers all over the country and beyond. She continues to drive her husband nuts by trying to teach herself HTML and maintain her own website, and generally being a goofball. She is in the midst of preparing a cookbook for publication Summer, 2003 called 13 Moons of Feast and Foods, and is launching an online store specializing in craft kits and other goodies, many inspired by the beautiful collection of Kashmiri wool brought back to the states by her mother, Patricia. Thanks to the massive amount of spare time she now enjoys (!) she and Cather have made the decision to homeschool two of the five children, now at the high school level, as well as training two in Sunny's family tradition of witchcraft.

Generally given to talking too much and writing too long-windedly, she relies on the restraining influence of hubby and friends to keep her in check, before she drowns the world in words. Failing that, she still makes a mean red beans and rice, and spends far too much time creating and manifesting fattening dishes for the health of those same family and friends... but they're not complaining much. In fact, not a small number of them have graciously consented to make up a Virtual Test Kitchen for the 13 Moons cookbook!
